Hydrologic and Hydraulic Study Related to the Potential Flood Risks A Private Plot in Barka – Sultanate of Oman

The study has been divided in two different
phases:
– Phase 1 – Hydrologic Study –we
collected all the morphologic,
topographic, geologic, rainfall, land
use data with the scope to analyze
the wadi network system of the
area. The hydrologic study has been
completed with the calculation of
the design peak flows, for different
return periods: 5, 10, 25, 50, 100
and 500 years;
– Phase 2 – Hydraulic Study – thanks
to the knowledge of the
topography and morphology of the
area, it was possible to create
several cross sections of the study
area, and then with a dedicated
model (HEC-RAS) to study the
inundated area in case of severe
rainfalls.
