Project Description
The harbour of Sant’Agata di Militello (district of Messina) is very strategic for the fishermen marine and, particularly, for the marine touristic. The harbour is located in the Messina Area, and is just in front of the “Eolie” Islands, which are called the seven pearls of the Mediterranean sea.
Actually the existing infrastructures (breakwaters, docks, quay, etc.) are not properly dimensioned for satisfying the maritime requests (commercial and touristic).
In addition the safety conditions are very poor and specially for the waves and winds coming from North-East.
Moreover, the existing port buildings are very old and needed of structural and architectural rehabilitations.
The proposed project provides many solutions for solving the above mentioned problems, and includes technological innovation for the construction of the quays and for the access into the harbor.
In detail, the project includes: road rehabilitation, port buildings restyling, extension of the existing breakwater, construction of a new dock, and the ancillary works for completely finalize the port-complex.
